Hi, I'm Amanda Archer. Welcome to my portfolio! If you wanna know about me, stay here and read for a little. If not, head on over to the 'Work' tab to check out some of my content!
I've been interested in A/V production since middle school when I made a short film over a week during a summer camp. I followed this path into high school where I explored broadcast and filmmaking. Both of these paths offered something different for me with broadcast showing me a high-intensity, fast paced environment and with filmmaking allowing me to find my creativity. After taking A/V classes all 4 years of high school, I decided to study it in college!
I received my Bachelors of Science in Radio, Television, and Film at the University of Texas at Austin this May. I was excited to be graduating from my time at UT with a 4.0 and as a Distinguished College Scholar sitting in the top 4% of my class. I have a specific interest in post production and documentary work. I have kept my focus on these interests by taking classes such as Advanced Editing, Color Correction, CGI for Film and Games, and Advanced Documentary Production. I am knowledgeable in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and AVID Media Composer.
Throughout my time at UT, I have had the pleasure of expanding my filmmaking experience with a variety of projects. During the summer of 2022, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in London where I directed, filmed, and edited a documentary. Currently, I work as a proctor for the Moody College of Communication where I assist fellow film students with editing on AVID Media Composer.
I am the current video editor at the Independent Media Initiative, a nonprofit that celebrates independent media through educational and artistic content. I started as an intern last summer where I was given the opportunity to work on long-form content and use that to produce short-form content for socials. Now as a video editor, I work on promotional videos for the company and work to create assets for our festival that we held this past November.
For the longest time, I have wanted to be an editor. This aspiration bled into my hobbies as I now find every occasion to further my editing skills and passion. Because of this, I have made many personal projects recapping my semesters at school, vacations, and my time in London.
